(1) A brief letter regarding a publication that is Goodale's expression of his admiration for Winter's views; (2) thanks Winter for his invitation and asks him to send the new picture; (3) he writes that "lies of the black guards do not "count," except as a possible passing annoyance. Your renown and your achievements are a complete refutation of such assaults." (4) Goodale writes that he has received Winter's "Shakspeare's England." (1) and (4) on letterhead of The Detroit free press; (2-3) on letterhead of the Hotel Cadillac, New York City.
